About the Job...

Assistant Housekeeping Managers work with Housekeeping Managers, overseeing Housekeeping staff in their daily duties, and ensuring that all lodging accomodations on location are always at their best to achieve maximum guest service.
Assistant Housekeeping Manager's work attire is business casual including leather, close-toed shoes.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports directly to the Housekeeping Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To perform all duties towards the goal of maximizing guest service while meeting or exceeding financial goals.
  • Assume the Housekeeping Manager daily duties in their absence.
  • Assist the Housekeeping Manager in training, disciplining, and evaluating the entire Housekeeping staff.
  • Train and supervise Housepersons and Linen Supply Agents with daily rounds, follow-up.
  • Have regular porter and truck driver meetings to enforce procedures.
  • Help to train and monitor the Housekeeping Office Assistant's duties.
  • Follow-up training and monitoring accuracy of information from the location RA Trainers.
  • Ensure that all safety procedures are being followed and weekly meetings are being held.
  • Participate in location Safety Lead meetings.
  • Enforce all Housekeeping standards and procedures.
  • Comply with established Housekeeping policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that adequate supplies (cleaning, guest, and office) are available through proper ordering and planning by using the Supply Management System.
  • Ensure the cleaning and maintenance of all vacuums and floor machines.
  • Records and arranges appropriate job and safety training for all Housekeeping staff positions, in conjunction with the Office Assistant.
  • Participates in job training of all positions.
  • Ensures that Personnel Profile sheets are updated, in conjunction with the Office Assistant.
  • Ensures records of employees missing work due to illness are coordinated through Location Management.
  • Creates and sustains a positive work environment; promotes a sense of pride and
  • teamwork with the staff.
  • Complete other assignments as required.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Effective interpersonal and public speaking skills.
  • Effective organizational skills.
  • Effective business communications skills.
  • General office skills, including phone ettiquette and basic accounting skills. Effective typing/writing skills.
  • Being capable of self-supervision.
  • Effective teaching skills.
  • Willingness to enforce Company and Department policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Housekeeping computer programs: MS OUtlook, LMS, AS400 and Kronos.
  • Knowledge of products used and checmial safety relating to Housekeeping.
  • Knowledge of vacuum maintenance and general safety practices.
  • In-park and overnight travel may be required.
  • Ability to make prompt, realistic, and fair decisions.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Effective interaction skills for supervision.
  • Knowledge of Housekeeping operations.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license with good driving record is preferred.
  • Should be 19 years of age or older (21+ for MH, OI, RL) and be willing/able to drive Linen Trucks when needed.
  • May be requested to obtain DOT physical (at MH, OI, RL).
  • Knowledge of "Right-To-Know" laws pertaining to Housekeeping chemicals. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs. as needed throughout the day.
  • Making beds, bending, kneeling, stretching, and reaching as needed.
  • Standing for long periods of time, frequent walking up and down stairs, as well as in outdoor areas sporadically throughout the day.
  • Frequent lifting and carrying of supplies and linens sporadically throughout the day.
  • Pushing a hotel cart or cabin cart up to 50-75 lbs. as needed.
  • Working with required chemicals.
  • Able to drive a standard transmission (stick shift) vehicle.

AUTHORITIES:

To recommend and implement change to improve the efficiency
of Housekeeping operations. To take necessary steps to ensure excellent guest service.
To respond immediately to any unsafe condition.
