Campground Attendant

About the Job...

A Campground Attendant in Yellowstone is primarily responsible for maintaining the grounds of the campground including clean and sanitary restroom facilities, and to assist in providing guests with necessary information.

Campground Attendants wear uniforms shirts and jackets provided by the company. Employees must provide other uniform pieces as described in Campground Department hiring material. Employees must provide close toed, no skid, all-weather shoes.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports directly to the Lead Attendant and the Campground Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide courteous service and basic area information to Yellowstone guests.
  • Clean, maintain, disinfect and stock public restrooms (and showers where applicable).
  • Custodial, groundskeeping, litter control, and ash removal at campsites.
  • Traffic control and assistance with site registration process.
  • Daily handling and stacking of firewood and/or ice inventories.
  • Empty and maintain trashcans and recycling areas.
  • Sweep and/or vacuum.
  • General dusting.
  • Maintain an awareness of needed supplies and maintenance problems.
  • Promote and educate guests on environmental & recycling policies and programs.
  • Acquaint guests with services available in the area.
  • Maintain daily communication shift logs.
  • Understand and adhere to Company policies and procedures.
  • Assure a safe environment for guests and employees.
  • Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with coworkers.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with National Park Service personnel.
  • Assist other departments as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Human relation skills - must be a people person who thrives on public contact.
  • Communication skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to learn quickly and follow instructions accurately.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Knowledge of Yellowstone facilities, activities, features and services.
  • Knowledge of Company policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of cleaning and sanitizing chemicals, their usage and chemical safety.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Must be flexible and open to changes in procedures.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Occasionally lifting up to 40 lbs.
  • Moving boxes of firewood (10-15 lbs) and bags of ice (7-12 lbs) outward and above the shoulder for extended periods to a maximum height of 5'6". Could total up to 2 hours a day.
  • Walking, bending and lifting, shoveling and scrubbing. Could total up to 8 hours per shift.
  • Working with required chemicals.

AUTHORITIES:

To take necessary steps to ensure excellent guest service.
To report and/or respond immediately to any unsafe condition.
