Camper Services Manager

About the Job...

The Camper Services Manager in Yellowstone is primarily responsible for overseeing the overall operation of the shower and laundry facility for the benefit of park guests.

Camper Services Managers wear uniforms shirts and jackets provided by the company. Employees must provide other uniform pieces as described in Campground Department hiring material. Employees must provide close toed, no skid, all-weather shoes.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports directly to the Manager, Campground Operations and the Manager, Campground Training & Standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform all job duties toward the goal of ensuring the best possible guest service, while meeting financial goals.
  • Train, coach and schedule Camper Services Lead and Camper Services Attendants.
  • Motivate and provide timely feedback/evaluations to all Camper Services personnel.
  • Understand and support Lodging Department and Company policies and procedures, and ensure staff members follow those policies and procedures accordingly.
  • Prepare daily cashier reports, payroll and other daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
  • Order and maintain an appropriate par of operating supplies.
  • Maintain security and proper tracking systems of monies collected from public laundry and shower facilities.
  • Assure timely inspections and repair of all equipment in the facility.
  • Provide professional and courteous service to Park guests.
  • Perform Safety Lead responsibilities including giving weekly safety tailgates and overseeing safety inspection checklists.
  • Promote and educate guests on environmental and recycling policies and procedures.
  • Address guest and employee concerns.
  • Understand and adhere to Department and Company policies and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with Campground Support Office,
  • Location Management, Accounting, Maintenance, Vending and other departments, as needed.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with National Park Service personnel.
  • Schedule and monitor payroll/shift coverage based on departmental guidelines.
  • In addition, the Camper Services Manager's responsibilities include those listed on
  • the Camper Services Attendant and Lead Attendant job descriptions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of Camper Services operations.
  • Knowledge of Company policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Park facilities, activities, features and services.
  • General computer skills - Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel helpful.
  • Knowledge of cleaning and sanitizing chemicals, usage and proper cleaning procedures.
  • Ability to work thoroughly and quickly under pressure.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to effectively supervise and motivate Camper Services employees.
  • Leadership skills.

  • Human Relations skills and communication skills.
  • Must be flexible and open to changes in procedures.
  • Valid driver's license required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Occasionally lifting up to 40 lbs.
  • Moving boxes of firewood (10-15 lbs) and bags of ice (7-12 lbs) outward and above the shoulder for extended periods to a maximum height of 5'6". Could total up to 2 hours a day.
  • walking, bending and lifting, shoveling and scrubbing. Could total up to 8 hours per shift.
  • Working with required chemicals.

AUTHORITIES:

The Camper Services Manager has the authority to recommend changes to improve the
operation of Camper Services as it operates in the Campground Department.
To take necessary steps to ensure excellent guest service.
To report and/or respond immediately to any unsafe condition.
