Dining Room Server

DINING ROOM SERVER

About the Job:

Dining Room Servers work with our Hosts and Server Assistants to provide Park visitors with great dining experiences in our full service dining rooms. Prompt attention, a warm welcome, informative explanations of the menu options, and professional meal service are the basics of the position. Answering guest questions, directing guests to resources available to them, and sharing their own enthusiasm and knowledge of the Park take our service to the next level of excellence. Previous experience is required for this position.

Servers wear uniforms provided by the company. Employees must provide their own black leather, non-skid, closed toe shoes and dark socks.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports directly to Dining Room Manager and/or Food & Beverage Manager on duty.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide excellent guest service in an efficient manner.
  • Accurately record and enter all food and beverage items in to the Aloha POS system; pick up, garnsih and serve food and beverages promptly to guests; collect and process forms of payment, ensuring guest satisfaction throughout.
  • Knowledge of all menus, specials, food and beverages.
  • Knowledge of general guest information.
  • Maximize sales by using menu knowledge and suggestive selling techniques.
  • Offer and serve alcoholic beverages while adhering to established Xanterra alcohol policies.
  • Conduct themselves in a professional manner with the awareness that most actions and communications are within guest view. Ensure a congenial atmosphere for all.
  • Maintain cleanliness of Dining Room and service areas.
  • Complete assigned duties within each shift.
  • Responsible for collecting accurate payment from the guest and depositing the exact amount of sales.
  • Each server is required to provide his/her own bank, approximately $30.00, for the purpose of providing change to the guest.
  • Maintain appearance and uniform standards.
  • Develop and maintain positive communication and teamwork with all co-workers and supervisors: front and back of the house.
  • Handle all guest service issues in an immediate and professional manner.
  • Follow Company and departmental environmental practices to minimize wasted energy and resources.
  • Follow Company and departmental safety practices to minimize risk to self and others.
  • Follow Company and departmental policies and procedures. Hold crew members accountable for the same.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Lifting, balancing and carrying Dining Room service trays.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize under pressure while presenting a calm and pleasant demeanor.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with guests, co-workers, and supervisors.
  • Ability to absorb large amounts of information quickly: Service procedures, menus dining room floor plan, Aloha point of sales system.
  • Certification in the TIPS alcohol awareness program is required. Workshops will be provided if not currently certified.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to walk for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 30 pounds.
  • Bending and kneeling, stretching and reaching for extended periods of time.
  • Working with required chemicals.

AUTHORITIES

To respond immediately and professionally to guest service issues and report the situation to the Dining Room Manager or F&B Manager on duty.
