About the Job...

The Dock Help at Bridge Bay Marina is responsible for renting out and maintaining watercraft, and assisting on the scenic cruises onto Yellowstone Lake.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:

Reports to marina management and Dock Help Lead

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Secures and maintains boats including: fueling, cleaning and identifying maintenance issues.
  • Instruct guests on rental boat operation including: NPS boating regulations, NPS fishing regulations, basic boating safety, proper usage, casting off and docking.
  • Assist in scenic cruise operation including: ticket collection, narration, docking and cleaning.
  • Inspects rental boats for proper equipment and damage prior to and after each rental.
  • Reports any damage to rental boats or unsafe operation to marina management.
  • Answers guest questions concerning Yellowstone National Park.
  • Advise renters about local weather patterns.
  • Completes requested paperwork.
  • Performs maintenance tasks as assigned.
  • Assist dock slip renters as assigned by marina management.
  • Assist mechanics as directed by marina management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of rental boats and seamanship skills including: safe operation, docking, and knots.
  • Knowledge of park geography and history with a focus on Lake area
  • Knowledge of rules concerning of boating and fishing on Yellowstone Lake
  • Knowledge of rental boat maintenance including: fueling and cleaning procedures.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Knowledge of local weather patterns.
  • Must possess valid driver’s license.
     

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be capable of lifting objects of up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be capable of bending, lifting and standing throughout a 10 hour shift.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to work at elevations in excess of 7700 feet.
