Snack Shop/Fast Food Supervisor

About the Job

Snack Shop and Fast Food Supervisors multitask!   Responsible for the daily operations in one of Xanterra's five outlets, supervisors are responsible for great guest service that includes good food served hot and fast, staff schedules and generating revenue and budget reports.  Supervisors may also find themselves flipping burgers, restocking beverages and busing tables!

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:   

Reports directly to the Food & Beverage Manager, or Assistant and/or Chef/Sous Chef on duty.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide excellent guest service in an efficient manner.
• Ensure that the facility is ready to open fifteen minutes prior to the posted opening time.
• Control costs: food, labor and other expenses.
• Be on the floor 100% of the time during a meal service period to observe, monitor and follow up on all areas of the operation.
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the dining, service and preparation areas in accordance with established standards of sanitation.
• Maintain appearance and uniform standards.
• Train and develop all staff members supervised.
• Provide ongoing feedback to all personnel and managers concerning all aspects of the operation.
• Direct and assist staff members in maintaining high standards of food presentation, sanitation and service.
• Monitor food production and the final product to ensure that food quality meets established standards.
• Commit food specifications to memory and ensure that all food handlers follow these specifications. 
• Ensure the staff is following established service standards.
• Motivate staff members to maximize sales by utilizing menu knowledge and suggestive selling techniques.
• Develop and present written evaluations for all assigned staff members, periodically, in the How’s It Going (HIG) format.
• Interact with guests on an ongoing basis to ensure that service and food quality expectations are being  met.

 
Snack Shop Supervisor

• Handle all guest service issues in an immediate and professional manner.
• Monitor and react to all situations mentioned on comment cards and provide written comments on actions taken.
• Responsible for the secure handling and balancing of an assigned cash bank.
• Knowledgeable of job duties for each of the positions supervised.
• Follow Company and departmental environmental practices to minimize wasted energy and resources.
• Follow Company and departmental safety practices to minimize risk to self and others.
• Follow Company and departmental policies and procedures.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

• Ability to absorb and retain a large amount of information.
• Ability to access equipment and/or operational problems and determine appropriate course of action.
• Knowledge of all menus and specifications.
• Ability to review and correct payroll times on the Kronos time keeping system.
• Ability to understand forecasts and labor standards, and to develop schedules based on the appropriate labor standard.
• Certification in the TIPS alcohol awareness program is required.  Workshops will be provided if not currently certified.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to stand for long periods of time, approximately 8 hours.
• Must be able to walk for long periods of time.
• Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds.
• Must be able to bend, stretch and reach for extended periods of time.

AUTHORITIES:

To direct the staff to an end result of having a smooth running operation and providing excellent guest service.  To make shift changes for employees.  To communicate with the storekeeper to prevent running out of anything.  To contact maintenance to repair equipment problems.
