Fire Systems Technician

About the Job...

The Fire Systems Technician is responsible for inspecting, testing and maintaining portable fire extinguishers, fire hose stations and sprinkler systems.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports directly to the Systems Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for inspecting, testing and maintaining portable fire extinguishers, fire hose stations and sprinkler systems.
• Responsible for the inspecting and testing emergency lights, exit lights, kitchen hood  systems, alarm systems, fire doors and egress ways.
• Responsible for installing and replacing single station smoke detectors.
• Responsible for coordinating work activities with location management and location maintenance manager.
• Responsible for compliance with safety standards as applicable to the job.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

• Must have knowledge of service life safety equipment and use of tools common to the trade.
• Must have experience with fire and life safety codes.
• Must have ability to work with a minimum of supervision to complete assigned tasks in a timely and professional manner.
• Must possess a valid driver's license. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be capable of lifting objects weighing up to 100 pounds.
• Must be able to walk long distances over uneven terrain and climb stairs and ladders in all types of weather conditions.
• This position will require the use of respiratory protection. OSHA standards require a clean-shaven face and a medical screening.
