About the Job...

Housekeeping Managers oversee Housekeeping staff in their daily duties, and ensuring that all lodging accomodations on location are always at their best to achieve maximum guest service.
Housekeeping Manager's work attire is business casual including leather, close-toed shoes.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports directly to the Location Manager and indirectly to the Assistant Director of Lodging.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To perform all duties towards the goal of maximizing guest service while meeting
  • or exceeding financial goals.
  • Provide an attractive and clean facility for guests in rooms and all public areas designated as the responsibility of the Lodging Department as trained to the standard. This includes offices and supply closets.
  • Determine specific work assignments for Room Attendants and other staff according to
  • the staffing guides and occupancy levels. (Scheduling and daily list assignments).
  • Monitor the progress of housekeeping employees each day: Cleaning to standard, finishing
  • in a timely manner, comfortable with their job, etc.; provide feedback to the employees.
  • Keep labor budgets for housekeeping employees in line with the budget issued by the Lodging
  • Department. Report the daily and weekly reprots accurately.
  • Make sure all housekeeping employees follow uniform and other standards each workday.
  • On a timely basis, make sure employees have quality control training as needed. Plan and participate in one-on-one training for the staff members who are new or are not performing to standard. Initiate progressive corrective
  • action; retraining, coaching, discipline, when necessary.
  • Enforce correct use of chemicals and equipment as trained.
  • Provide timely and accurate HIGs (feedback) of all housekeeping personnel. Solicit Team Leaders, Assistants and Relief Manager's input.
  • Provide accurate daily and closing linen counts. Utilize the Linen Management System correctly.
  • Utilize the Supply Inventory System correctly and provide weekly & closing inventories.
  • Ensure that some ready-rooms are being reported to the front desk by 10:00 am and steadily
  • throughout the day. All rooms are reported by 4:30 pm regularly.
  • Comply with and ensure compliance with key security procedures.
  • Follow Lodging Department instructions on opening and closing procedures.
  • Provide timely, weekly work schedules to be approved by Location Management and post
  • at least three (3) days before the start of the new week.
  • Ensure the maintnance staff at location completes repairs needed in the accommodations.
  • Meet regularly with the Maintenance Manager to discuss issues.
  • Manage Out-Of-Orders.
  • Personal inspection of the facility on a daily basis including guest units and public areas.
  • Supervise the Team Leader staff with the assistant, holding effective daily morning meetings, making inspections together, and identiying and providing challenges for those with managerial potential. Canyon Lodge Housekeeping Manager would supervise
  • the Area Housekeeping Managers in this same manner.
  • Monitor duties of the Assistant, Relief Manager and housekeeping Office Assistant (where applicable). Complete the duties of the Housekeeping Assistant or
  • Housekeeping Office Assistant when these position do not exist.
  • Monitor and control all furniture movement at the location.
  • Create and sustain a positive working environment, a sense of pride and teamwork with the staff.
  • Provide mentoring and development opportunities for Assistants, Relief Manager and Team
  • Leader for future hiring enhancement.
  • Cooperate with other department heads and the Location Management Team.
  • Provide a safe working environment by reporting safety hazards and reviewing accidents and prevention at regular safety meetings.

Note: The canyon Lodge Housekeeping Manager accomplishes much of the above responsibilities
by training and overseeing area housekeeping managers for these duties.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

Good organizational skills.

  • Meet deadlines for reports, supply orders, and inventories.
  • Knowledge of Housekeeping operation.
  • Knowlege of Company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license with good driving record is preferred.
  • Should be 19 years of age or older (21+ for MH, OI, RL) and be willing/able to drive Linen Trucks when needed.
  • May be requested to obtain DOT physical (at MH, OI, RL).
  • Knowledge of "Right-To-Know" laws pertaining to Housekeeping chemicals.
  • Canyon Lodge Housekeeping Manager also needs the knowledge and ability to train Area Housekeeping Managers to perform their duties.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs. as needed throughout the day.
  • Making beds, bending, kneeling, stretching, and reaching as needed.
  • Standing for long periods of time, frequent walking up and down stairs,
  • as well as in outdoor areas sporadically throughout the day.
  • Frequent lifting and carrying of supplies and linens sporadically throughout the day.
  • Pushing a hotel cart or cabin cart up to 50-75 lbs. as needed.
  • Working with required chemicals.
  • Able to drive a standard transmission (stick shift) vehicle.

AUTHORITIES:

To recommend and implement change to improve the efficiency
of Housekeeping operations. To take necessary steps to ensure excellent guest service.
To respond immediately to any unsafe condition.
