About the Job...

Location Recycling Laborers are a vital part of the team in our daily Yellowstone life! Primary duties include collecting and redistributing recycled materials at one of seven Yellowstone locations. This important position allows Yellowstone employees to live their values by keeping materials out of landfills and helping sustain the planet for future generations!

Location Recycling Laborers wear uniforms provided by the company. Employees must provide close-toed shoes.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports directly to the Personnel Manager on location, indirectly to Gardiner Warehouse Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collect all recyclable materials for the assigned location.
  • Sort recyclable materials from unrecyclable materials.
  • Bail all location cardboard.
  • Maintain the location recycling area to sanitation standards.
  • Safe operation and routine care of location recycling vehicle.
  • Work with Parkwide Recycling Technician to ensure processed materials meet standards set by Headwaters Recycling Program.
  • Safe operation of glass crushers and cardboard bailers.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age (could drive a vehicle over one ton).
  • Must possess a valid driver's license, ability to safely operate 1-ton standard (stick) transmission vehicle.
  • Must have ability to work with a minimum of supervision to complete assigned tasks in a timely and professional manner.
  • Respiratory protection will be worn when required. OSHA standards require a clean-shaven face, and a medical screening may be required.
  • Knowledge of recyclable materials and correct bailing methods.
  • Knowledge of recycling in general and what becomes of materials recycled in Yellowstone National Park. May be required to answer questions from fellow employees and visitors.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to lift weights of up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand and bend throughout an 8 hour shift.

AUTHORITIES:

To work with all departments on location to set pickup times and pickup sites for recyclables.
To help educate departments on location as to what is recyclable and what is not so maximum tonnage of recyclable material can be obtained.
To work with Parkwide Recycling Technician and the Gardiner Recycling Center to maintain standards set by Xanterra Parks & Resorts and the National Park Service.
