Store Keeper
STOREKEEPER
About the Job:
Storekeepers keep our kitchen stocked with all the ingredients needed to make great meals for our guests and employees.
Storekeepers wear uniforms provided by the company. Employees must bring their own leather, closed-toe, non-skid shoes.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports directly to the Chef and/or Food & Beverage Manager on duty.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide excellent guest service in an efficient manner.
- Accept responsibility for receiving, storing, issuing, transferring or returning items that are used in the operation. Store food according to established food safety standards i.e. raw foods below cooked and ready to eat.
- Ensure that items needed to produce menu items in all outlets are available and in a ready to use form.
- Ensure that items needed to perform daily operational procedures are available.
- Produce, distribute and file all necessary documents to support the receiving, storing, transferring or returning of items used in the operation.
- Maintain chain of custody documents for Marine Stewardship Council certified items.
- Communicate with the Food & Beverage management team any discrepancies in the order and follow the correct procedure for zeroed items.
- Establish and maintain order in all walk-in coolers, freezers, dry storage areas, food and non-food storage areas.
- Accept responsibility for the sanitation and cleanliness of the dry storage areas and walk-ins immediately following the receiving and storing of all items to those mentioned areas.
- Rotate product in all areas to represent a First In, First Out philosophy of product usage.
- Document and inform the Chef on duty of items that are close to the expiration date or are showing signs of spoilage.
- Observe, monitor and follow-up on business level changes with the Restaurant Chef to adjust par levels of inventory items.
- Develop and maintain positive communication and teamwork with all co-workers and supervisors: Front-of-the-house, Back-of-the-house, Warehouse.
- Assist with the physical count of all food inventory items at the end of each fiscal period and bi-weekly, as directed.
- Maintain appearance and uniform standards.
- Follow Company and departmental environmental practices to minimize wasted energy and resources.
- Follow Company and departmental safety practices to minimize risk to self and others.
- Follow Company and departmental policies and procedures. Hold crew members accountable for the same.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Working knowledge of all products used to include: how to handle, how and where to store, how long it will last.
- Working knowledge of administrative duties to include: use of production records and par sheets, inventory procedures, ordering procedures.
- Ability to organize and prioritize under pressure while maintaining a calm and pleasant demeanor.
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors.
- Ability to accomplish common tasks with little direct supervision.
- Computer skills helpful, programs include AS400.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time, approximately 8 hours.
- Must be able to walk for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 70 pounds.
- Bending and kneeling, stretching and reaching for extended periods of time.
- Working with required chemicals.
AUTHORITIES:
To direct the purchasing and receiving aspect of the operation to maximize efficiency and ensure that the operation has the necessary tools, products, non-food items, etc. to succeed.
