Completing your application the right way can increase your chances of getting the job you want. Help us help you . . . and make it work for all of us.

Take a minute and read our helpful application hints before you apply. These tips are compiled by our folks in Human Resources to make the application process clearer and easier to complete.

In General

  • Complete the entire application, even if you provide a resumé.
  • Preference is given to those with the longest dates and people who can either open or close a property.
  • Applying for entry-level positions will greatly increase your chances for employment.
  • Departments will often select leads and supervisors from those hired for entry level positions.
  • If you are using a paper application, be sure to sign and date it before sending it to Human Resources.

Check Your Dates Carefully!

Please do your best to determine your earliest arrival and departure dates that allow for travel to and from Yellowstone. Students should check with their schools for semester ending and start dates. The dates you agree to will become part of your job agreement.

Key Information to Remember

  • Review the job descriptions and check job requirements to be sure they match your qualifications.
  • If you are applying for an internship, select "Internship" as your first job choice.
  • Campground positions: Most Campground jobs require you to have a hard-sided RV for housing. (Sorry, pop-up trailers are not considered hard-sided.)
  • Most management positions, along with bus driver and tour guide positions, are hired for the full season, which runs from early May until late October.

Work Experience

List position(s) you have held in the past that indicate your experience relating to the position(s) you are applying for, or that demonstrate skills that will transfer into those positions.

  • It is OK to list only relevant positions rather than listing positions chronologically.
  • Please fill out the application completely even if you provide a resumé!
  • List any special classes or an educational major that would be relevant to a position you are applying for.

Contact Information

Please provide contact information where you can be reached. If this information changes, email the new information to us at info@yellowstonejobs.com.

Be sure to provide a complete mailing address. Make it an address where you will be sure to receive your mail or a resident there will be sure you get it very quickly.

We must have a letter of recommendation.

If you are a new employee, or have not been employed by Xanterra in Yellowstone within the last seven (7) years.  If you have been an employee within the last seven (7) years, we do not need a letter from you.

You can not check-in for employment without a letter of recommendation!

We prefer a letter of recommendation from a former employer. You must have worked for that employer at least two months in the last seven years. If you haven't worked in the last seven years, you may submit a personal letter of recommendation.

Your employer's letter of recommendation must meet the following:

  1. Contain your complete name, job position and the dates you were employed, whether or not they would rehire you, quality of work, cooperation with others, safety habits, attendance record and why you left.
  2. Be written on company letterhead.
  3. Contain the person's name who wrote the letter with a phone number, address and e-mail address.

If available, your personal letter of recommendation must meet the following:

  1. This person must not be related, and must have known you for at least one year.
  2. Must include their complete name, the relationship to the applicant, approximate length of time they have known the applicant, would they hire the applicant, general remarks on character, ability to get along with others, honesty and integrity.
  3. Contain the person's name who wrote the letter with phone number, address and e-mail address, if available.

The letter can be emailed, faxed or mailed via post

View two sample letters of recommendation . If you come to Yellowstone on your day of arrival, and we do not have a letter of recommendation at the time of check-in, you will not be employed and will not be able to use any Xanterra housing or employee cafeteria facilities. Please consider this policy before you travel to Yellowstone.

About your Resumé

We welcome resumés; however, by law we MUST have an application on file before they can be reviewed.

For specialized seasonal positions, we appreciate your resume even more when it is short and sweet!  One to two pages is normally enough information for us to review your skills.

After you have completed an application, you may e-mail cover letters and resumés as WORD, JPEG or PDF attachments to info@yellowstonejobs.com or send them by mail to:
