COOKOUT ENTERTAINER

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports to the Manager of Transportation & Interpretation in Gardiner and to the Location Manager at Roosevelt Lodge.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provides visitors with an interpretive presentation which may include music and lasts approximately 15 minutes at the waiting area. The content of this presentation must serve as a lead-in to the rest of the interpretation given throughout the evening.
• Provides visitors with boarding and safety information at the waiting area.
• Performs western and cowboy music at the cookout site while guests are waiting for dinner and while they are eating. This lasts approximately 1 ¼ to 1 ½ hours.
• Interacts with guests between songs and promotes audience participation.
• Recharges sound system daily and keeps equipment clean.
• Notifies manager immediately if equipment fails to operate properly.
• Provides own instrument.
• Attends wrangler training to gain familiarization with the horse operation.
• Adheres to Xanterra’s established policy of no “tip” solicitation.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

• Must have excellent musical talent which includes both voice and instrument skills.
• Must know one and one half hours worth of western songs.
• Must have good interpersonal communication skills.
• Must have good public speaking skills.
• Must have entertainment experience.
• A good knowledge of Yellowstone Park is helpful.
