Cookout Entertainer
COOKOUT ENTERTAINER
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to the Manager of Transportation & Interpretation in Gardiner and to the Location Manager at Roosevelt Lodge.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides visitors with an interpretive presentation which may include music and lasts approximately 15 minutes at the waiting area. The content of this presentation must serve as a lead-in to the rest of the interpretation given throughout the evening.
- Provides visitors with boarding and safety information at the waiting area.
- Performs western and cowboy music at the cookout site while guests are waiting for dinner and while they are eating. This lasts approximately 1 ¼ to 1 ½ hours.
- Interacts with guests between songs and promotes audience participation.
- Recharges sound system daily and keeps equipment clean.
- Notifies manager immediately if equipment fails to operate properly.
- Provides own instrument.
- Attends wrangler training to gain familiarization with the horse operation.
- Adheres to Xanterra’s established policy of no “tip” solicitation.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Must have excellent musical talent which includes both voice and instrument skills.
- Must know one and one half hours worth of western songs.
- Must have good interpersonal communication skills.
- Must have good public speaking skills.
- Must have entertainment experience.
- A good knowledge of Yellowstone Park is helpful.
