IT TECHNICIAN I

About the Job:

Provides direct support to the property’s end user community including desktop support, end user application support, network and security resolution, phone support, TV cable system and IT Operations projects.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:

Works directly with the IT Manager II on more sophisticated issues/projects and assists with areas that are more complex. Individuals are also responsible for computer operations tasks that need to be completed in the data center when assigned these responsibilities.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Responsible for oversight of computers and related peripheral equipment in the computer room and throughout the property.
  • Oversees maintenance of records and logs associated with computer processes.
  • Coordinates training of new IT technicians where required.
  • Helps to ensure integrity of programs, files and databases by overseeing other IT technicians in the use of utility programs, comprehensive backup procedures, documentation and logging maintenance.
  • Participates in the on-call duty rotation for after hours support if deemed necessary/appropriate by management.
  • Assists other IT technicians with decisions on proper troubleshooting procedures during problem situations.
  • Works with software and hardware support personnel towards the resolution of problems.
  • Installs and maintains personal computers and software as requested.
  • Works in conjunction with the IT Manager II to maintain and troubleshoot network systems.
  • Assists the IT Manager II in the day-to-day operation of the computer facility.
  • Develop and modify reports using a variety of report writer programs used throughout the property where appropriate.
  • Acts as the Technical Advisor on Duty when assigned by the IT Manager II.
  • Assists with coverage of the helpdesk (if one exists at their property) when needed by the department.
  • Works as a part of the help desk team to oversee management operations for data center services including bulk printing/report distribution, electronic data transfer, and help desk. Maintains an environmentally controlled, secures data processing facility with proper power distribution/backup and cooling functions.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Education/Experience: Associates degree in Information Technology or Business Administration with a concentration in Information Technology, Hospitality Administration or Accounting preferred. Work experience can be substituted for degree with two years of work experience preferred. Project Management skills are required.
  • Documentation Toolset Skills – Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products is required. In addition, proficient in using the Internet for job-related research is also required.
  • Experience with the following technologies is preferred: Lawson ERP, Raymark Retail Systems, and Aloha Food & Beverage Systems, PBX/Telephone Systems and TV/Cable Systems. In addition, knowledge of hardware and computer equipment is also required.
  • Minimal travel is required.
  • Valid drivers license is required.

    The individual must have the capacity to work in a fast-paced environment where project priorities, task deadlines, and assignments can change quickly and with little notice. The individual must be a self-starter who can work with minimal supervision while working within the guidelines set by their supervisors.
  • Language Ability:
    Ability to communicate both verbally and in a written format is critical to the success of any individual in this position due to the amount of document and training required within the job duties. Ability to successfully comprehend and follow written directions/instructions is also required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • The employee must possess physical stamina and condition to withstand extensive standing, lifting, stooping, and bending involved in moving and transporting supplies and equipment weighing from 50 to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee must possess the ability to work in small crawl spaces, attics, etc.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to usual temperature ranges (both cool and hot) due to the locations of some of the computer equipment in the different property locations.
The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
