About the Job...
Snack Shop Supervisor heads up the team that prepares
and serves food items offered to guests in our Snack Shops and Delis. Responsibilities include overseeing
preparation and service areas and staff at one of our establishments in Yellowstone.
Snack Shop Supervisors wear uniforms provided by the company. Employees must bring their own leather, closed-toe, non-skid shoes.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports directly to the chef and/or Food and Beverage Manager on duty.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform all job duties toward the goal of providing excellent guest service in an efficient manner.
Ensure that the facility is ready to open fifteen minutes prior to posted opening time, i.e. staff
present, cash registers up and operational, all menu items available, dining
and service areas set up and ready.
Ensure that all personnel maintain established standards of dress and appearance.
Develop teamwork among the staff.
Develop an open two-way line of communication between staff and other managers.
Develop a professional code of conduct in the staff.
Ensure guests are greeted immediately and that all food and service issues are handled expediently
and courteously.
Promote menu knowledge and suggestive selling among the staff.
Maintain clean and sanitary service and dining areas through example and staff direction.
Commit food specifications to memory and ensure that staff members learn and adhere
to those specifications.
Train and follow up with staff to ensure that proper food preparation procedures are followed.
Ensure positive work environment by building employee morale through motivation.
Direct and assist as necessary to ensure a smooth work flow and excellent guest service.
Monitor food preparation and the final food product to ensure the best product possible is served to guest.
Train, re-train and re-retrain again...and develop employee skills.
Communicate daily, both orally and in writing, with other supervisors and managers.
Write and discuss performance reviews with staff members at regular intervals.
Control all costs of the operation, i.e., food, labor and other expenses.
Knowledge of cash register operations and ablility to correct minor problems.
Knowledge of each position's job duties.
Read and react to situations or items addressed on guest comment cards and follow up
with written comments.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Ability to absorb and retain a large amount of information.
Check each staff member out at the end of their shift. See that all closing duties
are completed.
Physical requirements include:
Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Able to carry heavy and hot food containers
Able to work with and use various kitchen instruments and equipment
Able to stand on feet for at least eight (8) hours each day
Bending and kneeling
Stretching and reaching
Working with required chemicals
AUTHORITIES:
To direct staff to an end result of having a smooth running operation and providing
excellent guest service. To make shift changes for employees. To communicate with the
storekeeper to prevent running out of anything. To contact the accounting department to
rectify any cashiering problems and to contact maintenance to
repair equipment problems.
