Wash Deck Lead

WASH DECK LEAD

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports to the Manager, Laundry Operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Wash Deck Lead trains and supervises employees for wash deck, Tunnel, and assists with Finish Floor operations. Responsible for ensuring linens are processed in an efficient manner meeting production and quality standards. Included among the responsibilities of Wash Deck Lead are the following:
  • Anticipates needs of the finish floor and maintains a balanced flow of each type of material. Good communication with Manager of Production, Maintenance Manager, Distribution Manager, Manager of Training and Standards, Manager of Laundry Operations and subordinates.
  • Trains and schedules the wash deck and finish floor employees in safety, washer operation, chemical handling, loading patterns for CBW, and washers.
  • Ensures that production and quality standards are met for all wash deck areas, sorter, tunnel, and small wash deck.
  • Provides continual employee feedback, How’s It Going forms to be completed in a timely manner according to laundry policy.
  • Provides weekly inventories to the Office Assistant of expendable supplies.
  • Maintains chemical inventory for small wash deck and tunnel.
  • Ensures the safety of employees and that all equipment is operating correctly.
  • Ensures uniform standards are enforced on a daily basis.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Ability to supervise and train up to three or more individuals.
  • Knowledge of finish floor operations.
  • Knowledge of cleaning procedures, products, and Hazardous Communication.
  • Knowledge general work safety practices.
  • Knowledge of company policies.
  • Knowledge of laundry policies and procedure.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Frequent standing, walking, reaching outward and above the shoulder for up to six hours per shift.
  • Repetitive motion of arms, wrist, and hands for up to seven hours.
  • Requires occasional climbing, crawling, and squatting/kneeling. Could total up to three hours per day.
  • Must be able to lift items weighing up to 55 pounds on a frequent basis.
  • Must be able to push or pull items weighing up to 400 pounds on a frequent basis.
  • Must be able to wear earplugs on a frequent basis. Could total up to five hours per day.
  • Must be able to acclimate to a hot environment of 89° to 100°. Could total up to seven hours per day.

AUTHORITIES:

  • The Head Custodian has the authority to issue single Employee Incident
  • Notices for minor infractions and can recommend disciplinary action for major infractions.
